——–Unknown people last night broke into a Nat-Save bank branch in Kasempa district and attempted to blow up the bank strong room using explosives.

North Western Province Police Commissioner Eugene Sibote confirmed the attempted robbery to ZANIS in an interview today.

Mr Sibote said some unknown people last night gained entry into Nat Save bank in Kasempa with an intention to rob the financial institution after gaining entry through the roof.

He said it appears the same bandits were at some point disturbed and they ran away abandoning explosives inside the bank.

He said his office has dispatched a team of officers to Kasempa to go and diffuse the explosives.

The Provincial Police Commissioner said he also has demanded for an inquiry into the status of security at the bank.

He appealed to members of the public to report to police any person suspected to be in illegal possession of explosives, which he said are dangerous for the safety of the public as they can be destructive once they blow up.
