UNITED Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema this morning unveiled former MMD Chairperson for Health, Dr. Canisius Banda, as the UPND Vice-president for politics.

Hichilema also announced the inclusion of other members of the party’s National Management Committee, he said it was time Zambians moved forward and got united behind the UPND as it prepares to assume leadership of the country in 2016.

He said every day, the UPND is being vindicated because of the many lies that have not been fulfilled by the PF administration.

“God works in miracles, people wanted change and the PF capitalised on the levels of poverty in the country to cheat people that they would deliver national prosperity within 90 days. But now after two years of the PF administration, the nation is even going backwards,” he said.

Hichilema said PF Agriculture Minister Bob Sichinga yesterday admitted by confessing that the national maize yield in the country this year will be the lowest the country has harvested, something that is alien in Zambia.

“That’s what we mean when we say these people have no developmental agenda and plans for this country and it was time Zambians once more claimed their dignity by coming together such as my brother Canisius Banda and formed a government that cared for the people not their personal bellies,” he said.

HE thanked the people of Lukulu West in Western province and the huge numbers in Kapiri Mposhi that voted for the UPND as part of the revolution.

He maintained that the electoral process was still not fair despite the good performance by the UPND in the just ended by-elections from Livingstone, Mpongwe, Kapiri Mposhi and Lukulu West.

Meanwhile Dr. Banda said those who were saying UPND was a tribal party were people with small minds that have no arguments to advance against the UPND other than pure jealous.

“It is time as country we once more submit ourselves to almighty God because there were too many divisions in the nation created by the PF administration. If UPND was a tribal party I would not have joined it because I don’t subscribe to such nonsense and tired debates of maligning other people of God. If people have nothing to say against others, the best they can do in the name of almighty God is to keep quiet than peddling lies like they always do,” he said.

At the same function, former Western province Deputy Minister under the MMD Richard Mwapela joined the UPND saying Hakainde’s leadership qualities, the outspoken business achievements and qualifications, matched with the great UPND and national vision that the country needed.
