—-A senior Government official in Luangwa District has called on the youths to take advantage of developmental projects being initiated by Government if they are to contribute positively to national development.

Luangwa District Commissioner, Eunie Mumba, made the call when he addressed the business community and youths at the Boma market over the weekend.

Mr Mumba challenged the youths to take advantage of the developmental project that Government has embarked on as these have created employment opportunities for them.

He observed that Government has embarked on a lot of projects in the district such as the tarring of the Luangwa D145 main road, the Phase Two of the District Hospital and the rehabilitation of the Lusaka Water and Sewerage water plant which give them a lot of job opportunities.

The DC urged the youths to desist from fishing and charcoal-burning, saying these vices were depleting the natural resources in the area, hence impacting negatively on the environment.

He said the PF Government has fulfilled its campaign promises of creating more jobs in the country as this has been seen in the developmental projects it has initiated.

Mr Mumba said the developmental projects being undertaken in the district will enhance development as the area will be accessible to a lot of investment.

Since the coming into power of the PF Government, Luangwa District has witnessed a lot of developmental projects such as the tarring of the D145 Luangwa main road which had being a source of concern to the traditional leaders and the District Administration.

Government this year awarded a contract to China Geo Engineering Company to improve the D145 Luangwa main road to bituminous standard.
