President Michael Sata flagged off the upgrading of the Luangwa Bridge to Feira Road Project in Luangwa District.

Speaking before the ground-breaking ceremony in Luangwa district, president Sata said he is delighted because the PF government is fulfilling its campaign promises.

Mr. Sata said he would love to be popular because of delivering campaign promises to the people as per PF manifesto.

Mr. Sata said construction of Roads in the country is government’s top agenda as it has the capacity to create trade and promote investment growth.

He said the road project involves an improved plan of construction in order to meet international standards.

He said the Feira Road, which is part of the Link Zambia 8000 once completed, will create more jobs for the residents of Luangwa especially the youths.

Mr. Sata said plans are already under way to construct a bridge on the Luangwa River in order to provide a shorter route to neighboring Zimbabwe.

He added that there is need to construct a Road from Feira to Lusaka in a bid to create a link for the province of the country.

Meanwhile before the ground breaking ceremony Feira area Member of Parliament of Luangwa District Patrick Ngoma has defected from the MMD to the ruling Patriotic Front government.

Mr. Ngoma defected together with other officials and party members from the MMD citing lack of direction by the party.

He said he has not seen the need to continue serving the people of Luangwa under MMD because the party has not delivered its campaign promises.

Mr. Ngoma was until then  serving  in the PF government as Tourism and Arts Deputy  Minister.
