Chinsali Magistrate court grants Tanzanian national KR10, 000 bail for dangerous driving

Chinsali,  March 20, 2013, ZANIS — Chinsali Magistrate court has granted a KR10, 000 bail to a  Tanzanian national who was charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving.

Appearing before Magistrate Shedrick Chanda yesterday was Mohamed Harykasim, 45, a truck driver of Dar-es-salaam in Tanzania.

Magistrate Chanda granted Harykasim KR 10, 000 bail in his own recognizance with one surety in the same sum.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Magistrate Chanda stated in the bail conditions that the surety must be a Zambian with a fixed place of residence. 

Harykasim is charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving contrary to section 161subsection (1) (2) and (3) as read with act number 11 of 2012 of the road traffic act of the laws of Zambia                                                

Particulars of the offence were that on February 9, 2013  Harykasim did cause the death of Moses Chimfwembe by dangerously driving a Scania truck and trailer registration number T238 AFW and T843 ANT between Nakonde and Chinsali along the Great North Road.

It was in the process that the Truck and Trailer driven by Harykasim did overlooking the nature, condition and amount of traffic expected did knock down and caused the death of Chimfweme.

This is the second time that Harykasim has filed in a bail application on grounds of his poor health from the time he was remanded in custody.

Magistrate Chanda has adjourned the matter to April 18, 2013.
