Zambian boxing heavyweight champion Francis ‘Galagata’ Zulu has promised put up a splendid performance when he meets Cameroon’s Frederick Kassi in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title fight slated for June 28th in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Zulu promised to give his fans positive results when he squares it off with Kassi mid this year.

He has since intensified training for the fight and assured that he would not underrate his opponent.

He told ZANIS sports in a telephone interview in Lusaka today that his fans should support him so that he emerges victorious on June 28th.

Zulu further said he would ensure that the Zambian flag is raised high on the African and World boxing maps.

And Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) has said female boxer Catherine Phiri has intensified training for World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) bantamweight title defence fight against Leslie Domingo of Philippines in Lusaka.

The fight between Phiri and Domingo will take place at Government Complex on March 23rd, 2013.

OQBP Director of Operations Chris Malunga said Phiri’s trainer has put in place a good training programme for the young Zambian female boxer.

Malunga said Phiri was responding very well to training and expressed confidence that she would carry the day against her opponent.

He disclosed that his organisation has so far managed to raise KR275, 000 against the required KR405, 000 to successfully host the boxing event.

Malunga has since urged stakeholders to contribute finances required to host the event which he said was vital not only for Phiri but the country as a whole.
