A local businessman of Monze has been arrested by police for allegedly murdering his security guard.

 

According to police sources, Joshua Chipopa, proprietor of Kamusanza lodge, is alleged to have
murdered Charles Simangolwa, 46 ,who sustained wounds on his
head.


Police said that Chipopa took Simangolwa to Monze
police central station after realizing that he had inflicted wounds on his
head.


Police sources told ZANIS that Simangolwa disclosed to them that the
wounds on his head were inflicted on him by his employer Mr.Chipopa
and his friend whose name is not known but works as a driver at Monze
Mission hospital.


Police told ZANIS in Monze that the late Simangolwa disclosed that he
had been beaten by his employer Chipopa while on duty.

It is believed that Chipopa had beaten his security guard for
allegedly being found drunk and asleep on duty.

However, Police ordered Chipopa who took the guard to Monze Central
Police station to take him to Monze Mission hospital because he
appeared sick and injured on the head.


The deceased was admitted to Monze Mission hospital on 28 February,
2013 around 08:30 hours where he later died.


Police have since opened a docket in connection with the alleged
murder after a postmortem was conducted on 3rd March, 2013.

Results of the postmortem as certified by Dr.Mwandileya were that the
deceased died of severe bleeding in the brain due to injuries.

Police also disclosed that the suspect Joshua Chipopa tried to evade
the police by hiding but was later apprehended and is currently in
custody to help with investigations.
