KR4.1million road funds disbursed to Luapula

Luapula province minister Brigadier General Benson Kapaya has disclosed that government has released KR4.1million for road rehabilitation works in the area.

He said he was happy that the funds were released and that the Rural Roads Unit (RRU) has procured equipment to enable them work on the critical roads in the province.

Brig.gen Kapaya said he was informed that the RRU have since procured two water bulzers and other equipment to enable them work on some critical feeder roads in the province.

He said some rollers which were bought from South Africa using the same funds were in transit to Luapula province while the remaining funds have been used to purchase fuel for the road works.

And RRU Senior Supervisor Abel Mvula confirmed the purchase of two water bulzers which were already in Mansa and the two Rollers bought from South Africa currently in Lusaka en-route to Mansa.

He said his department was currently busy working on the Mansa-Fiyongoli feeder road while other roads will be worked on according to the schedule of works.
