—The National Construction Council (NCC) says there is need to implement the policy that demands 20 per cent of contracts during the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly awarded to Zambian Companies.

Speaking to ZANIS in an interview, NCC Board Chairperson, Levy Zulu, said it is important to ensure that Zambians benefit from the UNWTO preparations.

Mr Zulu, however, said there is need to ascertain that only companies that are able to produce quality works are awarded the contracts.

Meanwhile, the Zambia Association of Small and Medium Contractors (ZASMC) hopes that its members will experience an increase in the number of contracts due to the preparations being made ahead of the UNWTO conference.

ZASMC National Secretary, Danny Simuumba, said it is yet to see its members benefit from the preparations.

Mr Simuumba urged Zambian companies to do their best and avoid shoddy works.
