Govt. working on revamping physical education in schools


Lusaka, February 27th, ZANIS—Education Minister John Phiri says government has put in place necessary  measures aimed at revamping Physical Education in all  the schools around  the country.


Dr. Phiri said government is aware of the importance of physical education in improving the health of pupils and as one way of tapping talent in various sports disciplines.


He said government is committed to ensure that all sports disciplines in schools are revamped in order to provide a good foundation to the existing national sports teams.


Dr. Phiri also disclosed that his Ministry is working out strategies with the ministry of sport and other line ministries in revamping all sports disciplines in primary and secondary schools.


He explained that the recently launched Zambia School Framework will also evaluate on what led to the decline of physical education in schools.


Dr. Further said government is committed to ensure that teachers play a major role in identifying talent through improved physical education.
