—-Chief Mlolo of the Chewa people in Chadiza district has appealed to government to change the system of farming inputs distribution under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) in the 2013/2014 farming system.

Chief Mlolo said government should increase the number of fertilizer bags and ensure that the distribution of farming inputs is done on time.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS, chief Mlolo said farmers in his area did not receive enough inputs, adding that they were sharing a pack while the inputs were distributed late.

Chief Mlolo observed that this was likely to affect this year’s harvest as farmers delayed to apply fertilizer.

Meanwhile, chief Mlolo has called on government to construct more teachers’ houses in most schools in his area.

Chief Mlolo said most basic schools in the area did not have enough teachers’ accommodation, saying teachers were not willing to teach in such schools.

He expressed worry that the situation would continue to affect the performance of the pupils if nothing is being done to soon.
