Rainstorm wrecks havoc in Senanga District

Senanga, February13th, 2013,  ZANIS — A Police Officer in Senanga together with his family have been left homeless after his house collapsed following a heavy down pour.

And Senanga District Commissioner Yumei Mihupulo has expressed sadness at the development.

ZANIS reports that Sergeant Likando Kabika who confirmed the development  in an interview in Senanga today.

Mr. Kabika  said that around 03: 00  hours, he heard noise which was as a result of some bricks falling off in his bedroom.

He said he then woke his wife and started evacuating his four children from the bedroom.

Sergeant Kabika says he was fortunate that none of his family members were hurt as the entire wall of the bedroom collapsed just when he had evacuated his children from the bedroom.

And Senanga District Commissioner Yumei Mihupulo has expressed sadness at the development.

Mr. Mihupulo says it is unfortunate that Police Officer have been left homeless at a time when the District is experiencing continuous heavy rain.

He said government will this year embark on a project of constructing 75 housing for Police Officers in the District to avoid situations where officers rent sub-standard houses.

The District commissioner has since arranged temporary accommodation for the officer at the unoccupied offices for the defunct Roads Department.
