In Luapula Province, a girl, aged 14 died on the spot after the vehicle she was in lost control and overturned.

The accident happened on February 1, 2013, around 12:00 hours along Milenge – Lusaka road near Kalimanshi village, Chief Kasonkotwe in Milenge district.

She said the accident involved an unregistered motor vehicle, Toyota Ipsum, which was being driven by Pythias Lengwe, aged 19 of Katena village, Chief Sonkotwe in Milenge district.

She said the accident happened when the said motor vehicle which was being driven from south to north reached Kalimanshi village and the driver lost control of the motor vehicle careered off the road and overturned three times.

Ms Kanjela said the driver has been arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving contrary to Section 167 of the Road Traffic Act no. 11 of 2002 while the body of the deceased is lying in Samfya Rural Health Centre mortuary.

Ms Kanjela said all the suspects will appear in court soon.
