Police arrest two for murder

Police on the Copperbelt have arrested a 20-year- old man for allegedly having murdered a male person aged between 25 and 30 years.

Police Service Spokesperson, Elizabeth Kanjela, said the incident occurred between 19th January at an unknown time and 20th January 2013 at 06:00 hours in Luangwa Township in Kitwe.

Ms Kanjela said the suspect has been identified as Morgan Kasusu and was arrested yesterday and charged with murder contrary to Section 200 of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia and will appear in court soon..

She explained that the two were staying together in a rented one room and after a drinking spree they picked up a quarrel over a K10,000 note and in the process of fighting started and the following morning blood was found on the floor where the deceased body was lying.

Ms Kanjela said the deceased sustained three deep cuts in the head and his body is lying in the Kitwe Central Hospital Mortuary awaiting identification and post-mortem.

And Ms Kanjela said police in Lusaka have picked up a body of a man aged between 17 and 20 at Chawama Market.

Ms Kanjela said the body of the deceased had a swollen face and the victim is suspected to have been beaten to death.

She has since appealed to members of the public who may have their relative missing to go to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) and identify the said body.

In a similar development police in Kabwe have arrested a man by the name of Harrison Mambo, aged 22 years, for allegedly having murdered his 21-year-old wife.

Ms Kanjela said the incident occurred on 15thJanuary 2013 around 23:00 hours in Kapiri Mposhi District and the body of the deceased is lying in Kabwe General Hospital Mortuary awaiting Post-mortem.
