The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has unveiled the new Chipolopolo coach Sven Vandenbroek with a five match target to qualify Zambia to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

And Vandenbroek says Zambia can still mend its qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations by beating Mozambique who beat the Chipolopolo in the opening Group K match.
During the unveiling ceremony at Golden Peacock Hotel, FAZ President Andrew Kamanga said the Belgian national had been given a five match task after which the two parties will review their association.

“I think the assignment is very clear, Sven’s first task is to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. That is the prime objective we are also mindful of the other milestones,” Kamanga said.
“The first target is for him to deal with the five games that is all, we achieve that we come back and re-look at the tournament itself. Remember we are talking about just qualifying to the tournament, once we qualify, we can talk about the tournament.

The assignment is short term, to qualify us to the Africa Cup.”
Meanwhile Vandenbroek said he would open the door for all eligible Zambian players.
“I cannot judge the former coach (Wedson Nyirenda), it is not my job I will not do it. Everybody has a chance with me, I will check their performances,” he said.

Vandenbroek also made light-hearted remarks on the trouble with pronouncing his name.
“You have to see the movie The Fugitive where Harrison Ford has may name in the movie. Listen to it a few times and you will pick it up,” he chuckled.

Kamanga presented Vandenbroek with a Chipolopolo shirt with the number 7 that seeks to make it easy to pronounce his name.

Zambia has five Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers that comprise home and away ties against Namibia and Guinea Bissau with the return leg away in Maputo.

Vandenbroek had 15 year playing that saw him feature for clubs in his native Belgium, Netherlands, Greece and Norway.

He starred for Degraafschap (Netherlands), Akratitos (Greece), SK Lierse (Belgium) and Lov Ham in Norway among other clubs.
Vandenbroek quit playing in 2010 after sustaining a knee injury.
