HH instructs UPND MPs to move motion to impeach President Lungu

UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has instructed all UPND Members of Parliament to commence the impeachment process of President Edgar Lungu.

The UPND leader says there are many reasons why the Head of State should be impeached.

Mr. Hichilema cites the refusal by President Lungu to handle over power to the Speaker of National Assembly when the UPND had petitioned the 2016 general elections which was against the provisions of Articles 104 and 105.

He says another ground upon which the president should be impeached is following his recent usage of the Bemba Idiom that ‘Uubomba mwibala alya mwibala’ thereby encouraging public workers to steal public funds.

Mr. Hichilema says the Head of State while in Central province recently indicated that despite losing the elections, he refused to get out of office and that even if he loses the 2021 polls he will not go out.

The UPND Leader says President Lungu is a danger to Zambia’s democracy.

Speaking at the same briefing, UPND Vice President Geoffrey Mwamba says if elections were to be called today; the UPND can win the elections with a 73 percent win.

Mr. Mwamba, popularly known as GBM, says there is no opposition political party that can unseat the ruling PF apart from the opposition UPND.
