RTSA FAST TRACK COUR CONVICTS 13 FOR DRINK DRIVING

The Road Transport and Safety Agency has secured the conviction of thirteen motorists in the Lusaka fast track court for traffic offences for driving under the influence of alcohol during the month of January.
Those convicted for driving under the influence of alcohol are Mary Kayila, Venon Shikwesha, Chawa Mulenga, Clive Cholwe, Mulenga Masinsa, Francis Phiri, Jonathan Mulambo, Fundi Banda and Katema Maybin.

Others convicted on the same offence are Maulu Hamunjele, Paula Mwanza, Namakando Kalaluka , Field Chimuka, Ezra Miyande, Mark Mudolo, Joseph Nkoma, Christopher Zimba, Rabson Phiri, Lawrence Nguvu, Likando Mwendabai And Kingsley Bwalya all of Lusaka.
RTSA Public Relations Manager Mukela Mangolwa has told Phoenix News that dangerous driving was the most prevalent offence recorded by the court which accounted for 36 cases out of the 173 convictions for the month.

Mr Mangolwa explained that some individuals also appeared for multiple offences resulting in a total number of 139 offences out of which the agency secured 173 convictions.
He said other convictions were for unlicensed driving with 18 convictions, 14 convictions for expired test certificate, 13 for expired certificate of fitness, and 13 for use of uninsured motor vehicle, 18 for unlicensed drivers and six for use of handheld mobile phone whilst driving.
