National Democratic Congress NDC Consultant Chishimba Kambwili has accused government of corruptly engaging seven companies to supply bulk finished petroleum products to Indeni.
Mr. Kambwili’s claims are part of fresh allegations of corruption within government where he alleges that the seven companies have been awarded tender to supply finished petroleum to be supplied to Indeni.
Mr. Kambwili claims that owners of the companies enjoy a close relation with the President ando are about to sign the contracts challenging the Ministry to refute claims of companies shortlisted.
But Ministry of Energy Permanent Secretary Emelda Chola says contrary to Mr. Kambwili’s claims, no company has been shortlisted for the supply of the product.
Brigadier General Chola says the tender was run for over six weeks and bidding has since been subjected to evaluation but has not yet been approved by the Ministerial Procurement Committee for the award of contracts as it is still on going.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kambwili has warned Patriotic Front Intercity youth leader known as Commando that he is a nonentity, who below his level to exchange words.
He says the Intercity youth wing should be disbanded as it is an abrogation of the Market and Bus Stations Act.
