18,355 votes separate President Lungu and Mr Hichilema

race to State House is still neck and neck between President Edgar Lungu and UPND President Hakainde Hichilema with results from 29 of the 156 constituencies declared so far.

In what is clearly a two horse race, President Lungu has polled 262,149 votes against Mr Hichilema’s 243,794 votes, a difference of 18,355 votes.

FDD’s Edith Nawakwi is trailing a distant third with 3,202 votes,UNIP’s Tilyenji Kaunda has 1,731 votes,PAC’s Andyford Banda has 1,649 votes and Rainbow party’s Wynter Kabimba has 1,316 votes.

Others are Saviour Chishimba has 1,014 votes,Green party’s Peter Sinkamba has 675 votes with Democratic Alliance’s Maxwell Mwamba trailing with 343 votes.

The latest results announced by ECZ Commissioner Justice Christopher Mushabati are from six constituencies namely Zambezi East,Senanga,Mufulira,Siavonga,Kalulushi,Chisamba and Kaputa.

According to the results from 42 constituencies announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia which are verified, opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema is leading Patriotic Front’s Edgar Lungu by 11, 305. Hichilema has polled 384, 801 to President Lungu’s 373, 496 in 42 constituencies which has recorded 57 percent turnout.

  2. Any way we wait for the final declaration bcos results seem to be changing each and evry time.
