HAKAINDE Hichilema has sued Lusaka lawyer Kelvin Fube Bwalya for defamation of character for alleging that the UPND presidential candidate privatised companies and stole from the Zambian people.

According to documents filed in the Lusaka High Court, Hichilema is seeking damages for defamation of character and a declaration that the utterances complained about violate the electoral process and therefore illegal, prejudicial and unfair during campaigns.

He is also seeking aggravated and exemplary damages on account of the malicious nature of the defamation both in form of slander and libel.

Hichilema further seeks an injunction to restrain Bwalya from publishing or causing to be published the said words or any similar words defamatory to him.
