ECZ cautions against criminality

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has cautioned that it will not condone any elements of criminality during this electoral process.

Speaking during the last press briefing of the day at Lusaka’s Election Center last evening, ECZ Director Priscilla Isaacs says in any election, there are some people who want to undermine the credibility of the commission saying this will not be condoned.

Ms Isaacs says the commission conducts the elections within the arm pit of the law and does not condone any illegality irrespective of whom it is committed by.

And the ECZ Director the commission will follow up reports that some suspected PF cadres took-over Kamwala Basic School polling station and chased opposition polling agents and overpowered the police.

She says people should always take advantage of the medium of communication established by the commission to air out concerns.

She has pledged that the commission remains committed to conducting credible elections.

meanwhile, ms isaacs says the commission is hopeful of having some results around 10hrs and will update the nation at what point they will start announcing the official results.
