MMD National Women’s Chairperson Faustina Sinyangwe has alleged that the MMD under the leadership of Nevers Mumba has no right to entertain issues of alliances with any political party.

Ms Sinyangwe says this is because the mandate of all MMD National Executive -NEC- Members comes to an end in March this year.

She told ZNBC News in a walk interview in Lusaka today that after March, the former ruling party is expected to hold a national convention where a new leadership is expected to be ushered into office.

Ms Sinyangwe says the majority of MMD members are not aware of what Dr Mumba is doing.

But MMD Deputy National Secretary Winnie Zaloumis says Ms. Sinyangwe is not a member of the MMD as she was expelled from the party a long time ago.

She says the MMD National Women Chairperson is Lisa Pasi.

Ms. Zaloumis says Ms Sinyangwe has no right to talk about the decisions of the MMD and its leadership.

Yesterday Dr Mumba told a media briefing in Lusaka that his party’s NEC has mandated him to start discussions with President Edgar Lungu for the formation of a possible political alliance.

Dr. Mumba said decision was reached at during the party’s NEC meeting held on Saturday.
