JUSTIFY SIGNING OF THE NEW CONSTITUTION AT HEROES STADIUM

I note with concern that President Edgar Lungu has invited people from all the ten provinces of Zambia to come and witness the signing of the new constitution at Heroes Stadium on Tuesday 5th January 2016.
Holding of a function of such magnitude will cost the country a lot of money. In as much as Zambians appreciate the fact that President Edgar Lungu has committed himself to giving them a constitution,  spending colossal sums of money on a function that will only take the President seconds to sign the document is unwise and a waste of resources.
Zambia has already lost a lot money on the constitution making process. There is therefore, no justification for government to continue spending huge sums of money on a document that can be signed even at state House in the presence of few invited guests who include opposition political party leaders.
I wish to remind President Edgar Lungu that it will be a mockery on the Zambian people if he continues spending money on unnecessary things when most Zambians are going to bed without food due to the many economic challenges the country is facing. The Patriotic Front should not expect Zambians to praise President Edgar Lungu for merely doing his Job.
I challenge the government to justify their decision to hold the signing ceremony at Heroes stadium which will cost the nation a lot of money.
Failure by government to justify their move will leave most Zambians with no option but to conclude that it will be a money making venture for government officials through allowances and a political gimmick meant to win political mileage for the ruling party.
