Zambia’s striker Collins Mbesuma helped his club Mpumalanga Black Aces to rise to second on the Absa Premiership table after he scored in a 1-nil win over struggling Ajax Cape Town in Nelspruit.

Kickoff reports that Mbesuma netted just before the break as Aces moved within two points of log leaders Bidvest Wits, who earlier lost 2-1 to title rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

Mbesuma’s club end 2015 with 24 points from 12 games, a point ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns, who host Orlando Pirates today.

Mbesuma tapped home in the 42nd minute after being teed up by fellow attacker Lebogang Manyama at Mbombela Stadium.

The Zambian’s seventh League goal of the season took him to the top of the scoring charts, with Daine Klate and Andrea Fileccia one goal off the pace.
