ORIENTAL Quarries Boxing Promotion (OQBP) has moved the international non-title tournament from this weekend to November 28.
OQBP director of operations Christopher Malunga said in Lusaka yesterday that the tournament has been pushed forward to allow the stable prepare for next month’s World Boxing Council bantamweight title fight.
Catherine Phiri will face Yazmin Rivas of Mexico on December 12.
“The other reason we have moved the tournament is because of the Barclays Cup final between Nkwazi and Green Buffaloes. As you may be aware, Catherine was appointed as ambassador for the Zambia Police for the programme called ‘turn back crime’. It is for this reason that she cannot afford to miss watching the final between the two teams,” Malunga said.
The non-title international bout is set for National Sports Development Centre in Lusaka.
Meanwhile, flyweight Alfred Muwowo will face Anyway Katunga of Zimbabwe while welterweight Mbiya Kanku will exchange punches with Charles Misanjo of Malawi.
The other fights will be between bantamweight Gibbon Kamota who will face Philemon Hara of Ever Green while bantamweight Martin Manda of Oriental will slug it out against clubmate Lemmy Simbeye.

In the women’s category, welterweight Lorita Muzeyo will face Zimbabwean Cecilia Pitiseni while flyweight Barbara Banda will fight Kudakwashe Chiwandire also of Zimbabwe.
