POLICE in Lusaka have arrested United Party for National Development (UPND) vice-president for administration Geoffrey Mwamba’s son, Peter, for allegedly assaulting musician Kachanana Simata.
Lusaka Province commissioner of police Charity Katanga said in an interview yesterday that police arrested Mr Mwamba on Monday.
“Yes, I can confirm that Mr Mwamba’s son was arrested and detained at Woodlands Police Station,” Ms Katanga said.
She said Mr Mwamba was summoned for questioning by police and subsequently arrested for allegedly assaulting Ms Simata.
Ms Katanga said Mr Mwamba, 30, of Lusaka’s Avondale, allegedly assaulted the musician when she went to demand for her money from him.
She said Mr Mwamba has been released on bond and will appear in court soon.
