A PF member has testified before the Luwingu magistrates court how he apprehended a United Party for National Development (UPND) cadre for allegedly buying voters’ cards.
In his evidence before the magistrates’ court, Father Frank Bwalya, 46, said he was informed by some of his party members about a UPND cadre who was buying voters’ cards on September 6.
He said upon receiving this report, he reported the case to Luwingu Police Station and this eventually led to the arrest of the accused, Daniel Katongo, 35, of Tolopa village in Chief Chipalo’s area.

Katongo is alleged to have bought voters’ cards from Lason Mulenga, Rosemary Mulenga and Exildah Mwila, all of Tolopa village in Chief Chipalo’s area.
Fr Bwalya further told the court he informed Mwansabombwe member of Parliament Rodgers Mwewa and other PF supporters, who rushed to the area and apprehended the suspect.
And Mr Mwewa testified that after he was informed about the matter by Fr Bwalya, he too rushed to the area where they found Katongo with four cards in his possession.
The case was adjourned to September 28 for continued trial.
