Mentally ill son beats father to death

Police in Mansa are holding a 39 year old man of Chief Mabumba’s Chiefdom alleged to have murdered his father.
Fredrick Musebais alleged to have attacked his father Peter Museba and beat him with a log until he died.
Luapula Province Hudson Namachila disclosed this to ZANIS in Mansa today.
Mr. Namachila said the incident took place on Tuesday September 16, around 19hours.
He said the suspect attacked his father from the back while the deceased was inspecting his cassava fields hundred meters away from his house.
Museba cried for help and when other villagers came to his rescue, he was already dead and lying in a pool blood, said Namachila.

According to villagers, the suspect is a mentally ill person who sometimes has mental elapses.
Police have since apprehended the suspect but will only be charged for murder until he is provened to be mentally ill by a qualified psychiatrist.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited to Mansa General Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial.
