THE Livingstone Magistrates court has adjourned a matter in which three family members have been charged with one count of demanding property through written threats.
Appearing before Magistrate Benjamin Mwelwa yesterday were David Chiyaba, Grace Mwangala and Berther Lungu of the same family and residents of Livingstone.
Magistrate Mwelwa explained that the trio were in his court for the explanation of the charge as the offence fell under the jurisdiction of high court.

Particulars of the offence are that the three between September 7 and September 9, 2015 while acting together with intent to extort or gain money demanded K20, 000 in writing from Catholic Bishop Right Reverend Raymond Mpezele whom they threatened with violence if he did not comply.
“You are merely appearing for the explanation of the charge because the matter is only tried in the high court.
You will continue to appear in this court until instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) are received to commit you to the High Court,” he said
Magistrate Mwelwa further revoked the accused police bond and instead granted them bail of K5, 000 in their own recognizance with two sureties approved by the court.
The matter comes up on September 29, 2015 for a mention as the court awaits instructions from the DPP.
