A KABWE man who defiled and impregnated his 14-year-old daughter has been committed to the Kabwe High Court for sentencing after being convicted by the Kabwe Magistrate’s Court.
Burton Kunda, 37, of Chishinka area, in Kabwe on dates unknown but between July, 2014 and March 2015 in Kabwe, had unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter.
Kabwe magistrate Kaizala Tembo convicted Kunda for defiling his daughter and committed him to the Kabwe High Court.
In convicting Kunda, Mr Tembo said the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt but Kunda failed to prove that he was innocent of the charge of defilement.
Mr Tembo said in her evidence, the victim testified that her father had sex with her on five occasions.
“She said that the first time she had sex with him, was in the maize field when they were cultivating the field, and they were just the two of them,” Magistrate Tembo said.
The victim testified that after sometime, her mother’s younger sister, discovered that she was pregnant.
Mr Tembo said the victim revealed that Kunda was responsible for her pregnancy because he had been having sex with her.
“The prosecution has proved a case against you and it is the court’s mandate to punish you for your actions,” he said.
