There is good news for Zambia ahead of their 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier clash against Kenya with confirmation that midfielder Chisamba Lungu is back in training.

The 24-year-old Russian-based midfielder has been out of action for the last fortnight due to injury.

“Yes I am OK now and I started training last week,” Chisamba said from his base in Russia.

Chisamba sustained his injury on August 14 during training at Russian Premiership club FC Ural.

He subsequently missed Ural’s next two league games.

Chisamba has so far played four out of six league games of the 2015/2016 season for Ural.

The midfielder said he is likely to make his return to competitive action this Friday for 10th-placed Ural’s home game against Terek Grozny who are just below them at number 11.

Chisamba is one of 13 foreign-based players called-up for Zambia’s away qualifier against Kenya on September 6 in Nairobi.

Meanwhile, Zambia, who drew 0-0 at home with Guinea Bissau in their opening Group E qualifier in June, must beat Kenya next week to stand a chance of taking command of the pool.

Kenya, Zambia, Congo-Brazzaville and Guinea Bissau are all tied on one point each after one round of qualifying matches played in June.
