Probe The Post newspaper bribe charge – PF

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) deputy secretary-general Mumbi Phiri has called on the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate allegations that The Post newspaper reporter Funga Mukosha has been offered a bribe.

 

And Ms Phiri has urged PF members to start campaigning for the 2016 general elections because the Central Committee has unanimously adopted President Lungu as the ruling party’s candidate.

 

According to yesterday’s edition of the The Post newspaper, Indeni Oil Refinery board chairman Johnstone Chikwanda allegedly told Ms Funga that the State would drop her court case, give her a new a job or a scholarship if she discloses who gives her ‘classified information’.
Ms Phiri said the PF in Lusaka has requested the ACC to thoroughly investigate the allegations.

 

She said in an interview that Mr Chikwanda who is being accused of offering Ms Funga a bribe is not a Government official but a board chairperson of Indeni.
Meanwhile, Mrs Phiri has called on members to start campaigning for 2016 because the Central Committee has adopted President Lungu as the PF presidential candidate for the 2016 general elections.

 

She said it is an opportunity for the PF to ensure that President Lungu is marketed well throughout the country.
And Mrs Phiri says six girls have been arrested for allegedly collecting money from people on the pretext of fundraising for the PF.
She said the girls were arrested in Lusaka on Monday for allegedly masquerading as PF fundraisers.

 

She also said a PF member identified as Nathan Phiri of Chawama has been expelled from the party for masquerading as an official in charge of party mobilisation.
