Acting President Inonge Wina says government is working on harmonizing the different policies on age determinants so as to come up with one position.

Mrs. Wina says this is because of the current debate in the country on what age should be assumed as old enough for one to marry.

Speaking when she hosted a group of visiting Parliamentarians from Sweden at her office in Lusaka on Wednesday, Mr. WINA says different policies state different ages such as 18 and 20 and that anything below that is not acceptable.

She has attributed the high maternal mortality rate to early child marriages and children dropping out of school after falling pregnant.

And Acting Swedish Ambassador to Zambia David Wiking says Zambia and Sweden’s relationship which clocks 50 years this year has seen a lot of corporation and business development.

He says the visit by MPs is partly owing to progress the country has recorded in the fight against HIV and AIDS and commitment to the fight against early marriages from the top leadership.

And Group Delegation and Parliamentarian Ola Johansson says the group comprises MPs from different political parties in the Swedish Parliament but all interested in vital issues of sexual reproduction and health.
