A 33-YEAR-OLD man of Lusaka’s Palabana area has allegedly strangled and burnt to ashes his five-year-old daughter after a domestic dispute with his wife.
Lusaka Province commissioner of police Charity Katanga named the suspect as Morris Mutazo.
In an interview yesterday, Ms Katanga said the incident happened around 20:00 hours on Friday at the couple’s home in Palabana. She named the girl as Choolwe Mutazo.

“The couple had a marital dispute after which the wife, Florence Banda, 29, ran away leaving her daughter behind in the grass-thatched kitchen,” she said.
Ms Katanga said Mutazo, who has since been arrested, allegedly set the house on fire to create an impression that the girl died in an inferno.
Meanwhile, an overnight prayer meeting ended brutally for a 21-year-old woman of Ndola’s Chifubu township when she was raped on her way home in the early hours of Saturday, MUBANGA NONDO reports.

Copperbelt Province deputy commissioner of police Byemba Musole said the incident happened around 03:55 hours in Zambia Breweries area when the woman was walking home alone.
Mr Musole said police have arrested the suspect identified as Joseph Banda, 22, of Twapia.

He said the suspect was apprehended by members of the public who later handed him over to police.
