A LUSAKA man narrated in the Matero Local Court how his wife of 11 years denies him sex unless he paid her.
Peter Phiri, 37, of Chipata Township, who was sued for divorce by Catherine Phiri, 28, also of Chipata Township, narrated his ordeal before senior court magistrates Pauline Newa and Lewis Mumba.
“I complained to her family about her behaviour. The family took her for counselling, unfortunately she has not changed. The second time I complained to both families, Catherine was advised to sue for divorce,” he said.
Peter lamented that the only reason he complained to the families was in the hope of Catherine changing because he still loved her.
“Catherine’s behaviour is not that of a wife. She does not take care of me,” he said.
Peter said Catherine does not welcome his relatives in their home since the couple got married.
But Catherine said her husband is a selfish man who does not look take care of the welfare of his family.
Catherine said their marriage has been one characterised by differences, recalling that last year, Peter sent her back to her parents and has not bothered to take her back.
“We have been on separation for nine months during which period he has not spent a penny on me and the four children,” she said.
The court reconciled the couple and advised them to sort out their differences.
