DEC nabs Lusaka ‘ cocaine’ dealer

A 29 year old notorious drug dealer has been arrested for trafficking in 112 rocks and one sachet of cocaine weighing 6.492 grams in Lusaka.

John Simango of Lusaka’s Makeni area was apprehended by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Lusaka’s PHI area.

 

In a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka on July 3, 2015, DEC Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo said Simango has since 2010 been arrested and convicted on various drug related charges.

Ms Katongo said the suspect who appeared in the Lusaka magistrate court on  July 3, 2015has since pleaded not guilty adding that trial in the matter will come up on July 31, 2015.

And the DEC Public Relations Officer has also disclosed that a 34 year old male Zambian has been arrested in Botswana for being in possession of cannabis.

 

She  named the suspect as Gillian Kabwe of Livingstone who was arrested with 10 kilograms of cannabis by the Anti-Narcotic Bureau of Botswana.

She said Kabwe was apprehended in Kasane area in Botswana enroute to Francistown and he is still detained in prison in Kasane and will appear in court soon.
