ZAMBIA Football Coaches Association (ZaFCA) president Patrick Kangwa says national team interim coach George Lwandamina should be given more time to mould a formidable side.

And ZaFCA will hold its annual general meeting on July 4 at Government Complex in Lusaka.
Kangwa said in an interview in Lusaka on Monday that it is too early to judge Lwandamina.
Lwandamina has been in charge of two matches since his engagement on June 8.

Zambia battled to a goalless draw with Guinea Bissau in the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on June 13 and lost 1-2 to Namibia in the Rwanda 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier in Windhoek last Sunday.
“These are two different games and George should be given more time. Local coaches have the capacity to drill the national team but we want to create a cream of coaches that the Football Association of Zambia will be able to pick from,” Kangwa said.

He said ZaFCA is not against FAZ hiring an expatriate coach for the national team but the association is concerned with the disparity that exists between local and expatriate coaches.
“If an expatriate coach is given US $25, 000, why not give the same salary to a local coach doing the same job? We want local coaches to also be treated in the same manner,” Kangwa said.
And Kangwa said the amendment of the ZaFCA constitution will be part of the agenda at the AGM.
Kangwa will not seek re-election.
