THE Livingstone Magistrate’s Court has jailed for three years with hard labour a 23-year-old man of Linda township who stabbed a creditor for asking for his money.
Before magistrate Adsen Shanduba was Benson Nyambe of Linda township charged with unlawful wounding.
Facts before court are that Nyambe, on May 11 this year, stabbed Njamba Njamba after he requested for his credit from him.
In this case, the accused got potatoes worth K550 on credit from the complainant in February this year.
On the material day, Njamba went to Nyambe’s house to collect his money, but the accused went into the house upon seeing him.
Nyambe later emerged from the house with a knife and stabbed Njamba on the head. At this point, the complainant tried to grab the knife from his debtor, but he was again stabbed on the right side of the chest.
The matter was reported at Linda police station, where Nyambe was issued with a police report and the matter later brought before court.
In mitigation, Nyambe asked for forgiveness saying he did not know what he was doing.
Passing the sentence, magistrate Shanduba said circumstances surrounding the matter were quite aggravating.
“I see no reason why people should be involved in violence, Violence does not pay. I will send you to prison for three years “ he said.
