Government has directed all Councils countrywide to review the charges for Land allocation.

Chief Government Spokesperson, Chishimba Kambwili says President Edgar Lungu wants land charges adjusted downwards.

Mr. Kambwili who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister says Zambians especially the poor have been failing to access land due to exorbitant charges.

He said this in Mansa District when he addressed civil servants.

And Government has called for concerted efforts, in stopping the depletion of fish stocks in the natural water bodies of Luapula province.

Information Minister, Chishimba Kambwili made the appeal in Nchelenge, when he addressed some fish traders at the District Commissioner’s Office.

Mr. Kambwili says stopping the use of mosquito nets for fishing should be every citizen’s responsibility, because if the trend is not checked, all the fish in the water bodies will be wiped out.

He has observed that Nchelenge used to be the fish centre for Zambia in the past, but the situation has changed.

And Headman Chabilika implored government to deploy marine officers in Nchelenge to effectively patrol Lake Mweru to curb illegal fishing.
