The opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has expressed concern that President Edgar Lungu’s concentration on making appointments is becoming a distraction of what he should be focusing on.

The APC also thinks that the appointments President Lungu has continued to make are also a burden on the government’s wage bill.

APC president Nason Msoni says his party is of the view that in the first months of his mandate in government, President Lungu’s focus should be on the economy and the general welfare of the state.

In an interview with Qfm News Mr. Msoni has advised the President to focus on the big picture especially that his term in office is short.

Mr. Msoni states the Head of State should hold back on other responsibilities such as making appointments in his government.

He suggests that President Lungu should be mindful that in the next few months he will be in the campaign mood for the 2016 general elections.

Mr Msoni notes that this implies that if President Lungu gets distracted by making appointments, he might not even achieve anything in his short tenure.

He has advised that the sooner President Lungu realizes he is distracting himself, the better it will be for him.
