ZAMBIA women volleyball team captain, Tilabilenji Mvunga has been sent back home from the ongoing All-Africa Games (AAG) Volleyball qualifying tournament in Botswana for alleged gross indiscipline.
While the technical team could not state why the lanky spiker was banished from camp, the Times investigations have revealed that the Kamwala Honeys star had been punished for posting pictures on social media of the ‘poor quality’ of the jersey Zambia is using at the AAG qualifiers.
Team manager, Steve Kasinsa said in an interview yesterday from Gaborone yesterday that Mvunga had been sent back for alleged misconduct at the tournament.
Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) general secretary, Charles Haambote could not be reached for a comment.
But investigations show that Mvunga posted two pictures of the Zambia jersey and stated ‘ZAVA at its best’ on one and then ‘What ZAVA can do!!!!’ on the second image.
This prompted the Zambian team management to expel her from camp, a decision she later confirmed on social media as well as the reason of posting the pictures.
Meanwhile, Zambian teams have continued to perform badly at the AAG competition where both the men and women national team lost to Mozambique.
Zambia on Wednesday evening played Mozambique and lost with both teams dimming their chances of qualifying to the Pan African Games to be staged in Congo Brazzaville.
