Two drown in Lake Bangweulu while fishing

Two people have drowned on Lake Bangweulu in Chilubi district of Northern Province after their canoe capsized.

 

Northern Province Police Deputy Commissioner Alfred Nawa confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kasama today.

 

Mr Nawa explained that the two met their fate when their canoe was swept by a strong current while fishing on the lake.

 

The Northern Province Police Deputy Commissioner named the diseased as Lambe Mwila 68, and John Kale 10, both of Kapampa village of Chief Matipa area in Chilubi district. 

 

Mr Nawa said the bodies have since been retrieved and buried.

 

The Northern Province Police Deputy Police Commissioner has since cautioned fishermen in the area to take precaution measures as they conduct their fishing activities.
