SEVEN out of the nine people who drowned on Lake Mweru Wa Ntipa in Nsama in Northern Province are children aged between one and four years while two are women, provincial deputy commissioner of police Alfred Nawa has said.
And police have retrieved all the bodies from the lake.
Mr Nawa said in an interview on Tuesday that police have established that the two women drowned while trying to rescue the seven children after the boat in which they were travelling capsized.
This happened on Sunday around 06:00 hours.
Seventeen people were on their way from Kampinda village to Kaputa when the accident happened.ZambiaDailyMail
