Zambians safe from xenophobia attacks in South Africa

Government has reassured the public that the welfare of Zambians living in, and traveling to South Africa remains among its priorities.

Acting Chief Government Spokesperson, Vincent Mwale says President Edgar Lungu will continue consulting Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe, in his capacity as the Chairperson of both SADC and African Union on how best to deal with the Xenophobic violence in South Africa.

Mr. Mwale told the Media after Cabinet meeting in Lusaka today that President Lungu has also engaged the leadership in South African on the matter.

He said the Zambian Mission in Pretoria continues to closely monitor the situation in South Africa.

Mr. Mwale urged all Zambians living in South Africa to exercise caution in their daily activities and to continue to avoid areas affected by xenophobia attacks.
