A 25 year-old woman is appearing in court for allegedly possessing charms.

Before Kapiri-Mposhi Magistrate Rita Maxwell was Francisca Ilunga of Riverside Township in Kapiri-Mposhi district.

It is alleged that on April 11, 2015 in Kapiri- Mposhi district of Central Province, Ilunga had in her possession charms, namely two coffins, one sculpture, one horn, one bow and a sack containing various charms contrary to Section (2)(3) Cap 90 of the Laws of Zambia.

The charms were discovered under the accused’s bed at her residence.

Ilunga pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The matter comes up on April 20 for possible commencement of trial.

In the same court, a 51-year-old man is appearing for professing that he has super natural powers.

Before the court was Gilbert Munshya of Matuka village in Chief Nkole’s area in Kapiri Mposhi district.

Particulars before the court were that on 30th March 2015, Munshya allegedly did admit that he possessed super natural powers thereby instilling fear and anger in a named person contrary to the Witchcraft Act, Chapter, 90 of the Laws of Zambia.

Munshya pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Maxwell has since set 28th April 2015 as a date for commencement of trial in the matter.

Meanwhile, a 51-year-old man is appearing in court for allegedly defiling a seven year-old girl.

Before Kapiri-Mposhi Magistrate, Rita Maxwell, was Saviour Bwalya of Soweto compound in Kapiri Mposhi district who on March 15, 2015 is allegedly to have had carnal knowledge of a named minor contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Bwalya pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement.

Magistrate Maxwell has since adjourned the matter 23rd April for trial.-Zanis
