LUSAKA, April 9 (Reuters) – Zambia’s kwacha weakened more than 1 percent against the dollar on Thursday as importers took advantage of the local currency’s recent gains to buy dollars.

“Market players, especially importers, have seized the opportunity to get dollars at relatively lower rates and this has put pressure on the kwacha,” one commercial bank trader said.
