PRESIDENT Lungu has warned that he will fire civil servants that are frustrating the implementation of infrastructure development countrywide.
And Mr Lungu has thanked the electorate on the Copperbelt for voting for him and the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in this year’s presidential election.
Speaking when he addressed PF Copperbelt provincial executive committee members at Kitwe’s Lothian House yesterday, President Lungu said all government officials that are frustrating government projects will be fired.
“There are some people who have refused to accept that I am the President of Zambia, they also refused to accept that I was the PF presidential candidate in the 2015 presidential election,” he said.
Mr Lungu said he will ensure that all the development projects that have stalled countrywide are resuscitated.
“There are some people who are serving under me but their loyalty is somewhere else, they will be flushed out from the government. We won’t give reasons why they will be fired but we will flush them,” the president said.
“Some people set up traps and pitfalls so that when we come into Government, we can fail but they will be flushed out, we have caught up with them,” he said.
Mr Lungu described some government officials as hypocrites.
He thanked Copperbelt residents for voting for him in last year’s presidential election.
Mr Lungu assured PF members that the party is still strong and is being reorganised.

“Let us accept people from other political parties when they come to join us. When United Party for National Development (UPND) and MMD members come to join us, we must accept them, even those from the cartel, if they join us, we must not chase them,” he said.
Mr Lungu said PF is an initiative and project that was started by late President Sata and urged members to learn to forgive others.
“When Mr Willie Nsanda (late) was joining us in the PF, some of us refused to accept him including myself and Chishimba Kambwili (Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services) during a central committee meeting but Mr Sata opposed us and wondered how we were going to grow the party if we chased people who were joining,” Mr Lungu said.
Mr Lungu also expressed sadness at the death of 17 people in Mazabuka.
And Minister of Agriculture and Tourism Given Lubinda said President Lungu commands a lot of respect from the international community.
Mr Lubinda described Mr Lungu as a God sent leader to Zambians and urged party members to be peaceful.
Minister of Tourism and Arts Jean Kapata urged members to be united and alleged that the Rainbow Party was founded on the basis of homosexuality despite Zambia being a Christian nation.
Ms Kapata called on party officials to defend the party and President Lungu when he is attacked by outsiders.
But Rainbow Party Copperbelt coordinator Robert Mwewa said in an interview from Ndola that it is not true that his party was founded on homosexuality.
“We published our ideologies on which we are founded in the press. We have nothing to do with homosexuality,” Mr Mwewa said.
And President Lungu says the country is making huge strides in overcoming the weakening of the economy, reports MUBANGA NONDO.

Mr Lungu said Zambians should not despair as the weakening of economies is a worldwide phenomenon but the government is focusing on industrialisation to address it.
The president was speaking on arrival at Ndola’s Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe international Airport yesterday en route to Kitwe where he visited the house of late Patriotic Front (PF) member of central committee (MCC) Willie Nsanda.
Mr Lungu said that his government will ensure that the country focuses on industrialisation as it enhances production of goods which, in turn, creates more jobs.
He said Government will also ensure that there is a surge on the country’s economy, adding that there is a lot Zambia can do internally in terms of bettering the economy.
The President said Government will also continue on its path of infrastructure development which is creating jobs for the local people.
Meanwhile, President Lungu has described the perceived infighting amongst the PF members on the Copperbelt as a normal occurrence as people try to reposition themselves for posts that have fallen vacant.
He said there are no problems in the provincial executive committee but members are merely jostling for positions following the appointment of provincial chairman Sturdy Mwale as Lusaka Province permanent secretary.
