The South African printing company Ren Form CC has completed the re printing of ballot papers for the Chawama and Senga Hill parliamentary constituency by elections.

The reprinted ballots will be dispatched to Zambia this afternoon and are expected at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by 14 hours.

Electoral Commission of Zambia – ECZ Public Relations Officer Raphael Phiri has confirmed this to ZNBC news in Lusaka . Earlier, the consignment of ballot papers for the Chawama and Senga Hill Parliamentary Constituencies were found to have anomalies during the verification exercise.

The front cover pages and quantity of the ballots for the two constituency by-elections were swapped by the printing company. Meanwhile, Mr. Phiri says the commission will decide the method to use in disposing of the ballots that have anomalies. He says all stakeholders will be informed of the process and will have to give consent.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Supreme Council of Zambia has urged politicians to take the lead in encouraging citizens to register as voters ahead of the 2016 general elections. Islamic Supreme Council President Suzgo Zimba says the 2016 general elections should have millions of voters especially that the electoral commission of Zambia has announced the commencement of voter registration.

Speaking to ZNBC news this afternoon, Mr. Zimba says the voter registration exercise will help people that have turned 18 or will turn 18 on date of general elections to participate in the electoral process.
