March 29, 2015 : A 35 YEAR-OLD MAN of Kabanana in Lusaka is battling for his life after suspected thieves beat him and slashed his manhood, which is now hanging by a thread of skin.
The incident happened between 20:00 hours and 21:00 hours last Monday last week and the victim, identified as Joseph Njovu, was left for dead in a trench.
According to the victim’s wife, Sofia, her scarred husband returned home on Tuesday half-conscious and soaked in blood.
“When I checked, I found he had cuts and bruises on his head and face. He also had stab wounds on his genital area and his manhood was only hanging by a thread. He said he had been attacked and they dumped him in a nearby trench when they thought he had died,” she said.
She said Mr Njovu underwent surgery on Wednesday and the matter was reported to Kabanana police post.

In Mansa, BILKE MULENGA reports that an elderly woman has been detained by police for allegedly causing the death of her 69-year-old husband by squeezing his manhood.
The suspect is being held in connection with the death of her husband identified as John Munyanta of Katangwe village in Chief Mabumba after his family discovered the deceased had a swollen manhood at the mortuary.
Luapula Province criminal investigations officer Mulala Sikota said the incident happened last Tuesday.
“On Tuesday last week, we received a report of a brought in dead (BID) and the body was taken to Mansa Central Hospital mortuary but on burial day, some family members while preparing the body discovered the deceased had swollen private parts and became suspicious,” Mr Mulala said.
He said the matter was reported to police and thewidow was interrogated.
“During interrogations, the suspect confirmed that the couple on the fateful day had a fight, which turned physical around 22:00 hours. And because of her statement, we suspect that she might have squeezed his manhood after being over powered by the deceased and caused his death,” he said.
Mr Mulala said the body was later taken back to the mortuary awaiting postmortem.

In Ndola, MUBANGA NONDO reports that a 22-year-old woman of Chinsali has been arrested for allegedly dumping her new-born baby in a pit latrine at her father’s house.
Muchinga Province commissioner of police Auxensio Daka said the incident occurred on Thursday last week at Mbutuka village in Chief Chewe’s area.
Mr Daka identified the suspect as Foster Nkonde.
The suspect has been charged with infanticide.
And a 40-year-old man of Ndola’s Mushili has committed suicide after jumping from the fifth floor of Ndola Central Hospital building.
NCH public relations officer Shoena Chalimbana said the incident occurred on Friday around 13:00 hours.
The deceased has been identified as Maxwell Phiri.
“The deceased came to the hospital in the morning to visit a sick relative on the fourth floor but later moved to the fifth floor to commit suicide. He, however, left a note with the woman he sat next to on a bench,” Ms Chalimbana said.
In his note, the deceased informed his grandmother about another relative’s death.
Ms Chalimbana said the deceased’s body was trapped on the first floor after he jumped, but personnel at the hospital managed to retrieve it and took it to the mortuary at the same hospital.
