China commits $90m for Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital expansion

The Chinese government has committed 90 Million US dollars towards expansion works at Lusaka’s Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital.

The Chinese grant will facilitate the expansion of the hospital bed space from 120 to one thousand.

The Hospital will also be equipped with high-tech equipment to enable it offer specialized treatment.

Health Minister Joseph Kasonde disclosed this in Lusaka when he welcomed a Chinese delegation of engineers who are in the country to undertake a survey for the expansion of Levy Mwanawasa General.

Dr. Kasonde has told the delegation that Zambia is grateful to the people of China for the gesture.

The Minister of Health said the Patriotic Front government wants to fulfill its campaign promise to Zambians of offering quality healthcare services as close to the family as possible.

The Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital was built by the Chinese government through a grant of 8 million dollars.
